With vitamin C I look first at the form: pure ascorbic acid is the cheapest per day, a buffered ascorbate tastes less acidic. Then at the dose and the label: with a powder you dose it yourself and you have a single ingredient, a capsule gives a fixed 1,000 mg, sometimes with zinc and bioflavonoids.
