Digestion formula pro - Vitals

Digestion formula Pro is a food supplement that consists of two scientifically substantiated plant extracts with the brand names Prodigest® and Mucosave™. It contains ginger and artichoke, which are known to have a positive effect on digestion in general, and stomach function in particular. It is therefore excellently suited for people who could use some extra support in that area. In addition to ginger and artichoke, the product contains a special extract from prickly pear cactus and olive leaf.

Digestion
Digestion is the process by which food moves through the gastrointestinal tract and is broken down into increasingly smaller nutrients, which can then be absorbed into the body through the intestinal wall. In the body, these nutrients, such as amino acids, fatty acids and simple sugars, are used as building materials, reserve materials and/or fuel. Among other things, these nutrients enable us to produce energy, build tissue, produce hormones and neurotransmitters, and form reserve materials. Most vitamins and all minerals must also be obtained through our diet, because we cannot produce them ourselves. It follows that well-functioning digestion plays a key role in maintaining optimal health. Several plants are known to have a positive effect on digestion and on the organs involved in it.

Prodigest® (ginger and artichoke extract)
One of the ingredients in Digestion formula Pro is the ginger and artichoke extract with the brand name Prodigest® from the Italian producer and herbal specialist Indena. Ginger is a spice obtained from the rhizome of the ginger plant (Zingiber officinale). It is part of the Zingiberaceae family, which also includes turmeric and cardamom. Indena's ginger extract is standardised to 2.5% shogaols and gingerols. The artichoke extract in Prodigest® comes from the leaf of the artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus). The active substances in this extract are flavonoids (1.4%), cynaropicrin (1.4%) and caffeoylquinic acid (5.6%). Human studies show that this specific combination extract of ginger and artichoke is good for digestion because it contributes to the maintenance of normal stomach function. It is preferably taken with a meal and can help with a feeling of fullness in the stomach and a bloated feeling after eating. Artichoke also has a positive effect on liver function, among other things by supporting bile production. Through the production of bile, the liver is involved in the digestion of fats. Bile ensures that fats from our diet are emulsified (broken up into smaller droplets) so that fat-splitting enzymes can act on them effectively.

Mucosave™ (prickly pear cactus and olive leaf extract)
The second ingredient in Digestion formula Pro is a prickly pear cactus and olive leaf extract with the brand name Mucosave™. It is produced by Bionap, also based in Italy. The prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) is found mainly in Mexico, but can also grow in other dry regions (such as the Mediterranean area). The prickly pear cactus extract is known to be very rich in mucilage. Mucilage in plants consists of polysaccharides that can absorb a lot of water, forming a protective layer on the plant. Prickly pear cactus extract combines excellently with an extract from olive leaf (Olea europaea), which is rich in polyphenols.
