A broad-spectrum fibre mix with seven plant-based fibre sources — 200 grams of powder. Selected by Vitarium from the Natuurlijk.fit range.

Composition

Ingredient Source
Guar bean fibre Cyamopsis tetragonoloba — soluble, fermentable
Apple fibre Malus domestica — pectin + cellulose mix
Psyllium fibre Plantago ovata — gel-forming, mechanical
Inulin fibre Chicory (Cichorium intybus) — highly fermentable prebiotic
Acacia fibre Acacia senegal — slowly fermentable prebiotic
Baobab fibre Adansonia digitata — multi-component fibre + polyphenols
Glucomannan Konjac (Amorphophallus konjac) — highly swelling

The mix combines fibre types with different mechanisms of action: slowly fermentable (acacia), gel-forming (psyllium), highly fermentable (inulin), highly swelling (glucomannan). Thanks to this combination you get a broader fibre profile in a single formula than with a single-fibre product.

About dietary fibre

The guideline for adults is around 30 grams of dietary fibre a day; the average Dutch intake is about 20 grams. Fibre is found in vegetables, fruit, legumes, nuts and wholegrain products. This product supplements fibre from food; it does not replace it. A varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important.

⚠ Important safety information

  • Glucomannan swelling risk: in contact with water, glucomannan can swell to up to 50× its own volume. Always take with plenty of water — at least 250-300 ml per portion, and a second glass of water afterwards. In case of swallowing or oesophageal problems, do not use without medical advice (risk of obstruction).
  • Inulin and a bloated feeling: inulin (and to a lesser extent other fermentable fibres) may cause gas formation and a bloated feeling in the first 1-2 weeks. Build up gradually for this reason
  • Psyllium and medication timing: psyllium may slow down the absorption of medicines — leave at least 2 hours between taking the fibre and taking medication
  • Do not use in case of obstructive bowel disorders or narrowing of the oesophagus
  • During pregnancy: preferably consult your midwife first
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose

Dosage

  • Standard: 1 level teaspoon (~5 g) a day, mixed with plenty of water
  • Mix from dry to wet: put the powder in a dry glass first, then slowly add water while stirring — this prevents lumps
  • Drink a second glass of water after taking it
  • Build up gradually (start with 2-3 g/day in week 1)
  • Preferably not just before going to sleep
  • Or as advised by your health professional

Vitarium therapeutic editorial

MultiFiber is a broad-spectrum fibre mix that combines several fibre types in one formula. The advantage of that: one product covers several mechanisms at once — fermentable prebiotic action via acacia and inulin, mechanical bowel action via psyllium, high swelling volume via glucomannan, polyphenols via baobab. The drawback: if you have a specific gut context (IBS, a sensitive gut), the inulin component can cause a bloated feeling that does not occur with a mono-acacia formula. If you are trying fibre supplementation for the first time: it is better to start with a mono formula (such as [Acacia fibre](/products/acacia-vezels-original-fiber)) — once that is well tolerated, you can switch to a broad-spectrum mix later. If you already have experience and want broader prebiotic coverage: this formula is a good fit.

This product is a food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended dose. A varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important; a food supplement is not a substitute for these. Keep out of reach of young children. Always take fibre supplements with sufficient water. Consult an expert in case of pregnancy, lactation, medication use or illness.
