200 grams of magnesium bisglycinate powder — 100 mg of elemental magnesium per gram. Freely dosable at your own pace. Selected by Vitarium from the Natuurlijk.fit range.
What it contains
| Ingredient | Per gram of powder | %RI per gram |
|---|---|---|
| Magnesium (from magnesium bisglycinate) | 100 mg elemental | 27% |
Bisglycinate = magnesium bound to two glycine amino acids (a chelate). Because of the amino acid envelope, absorption is efficient and the form is not laxative — suitable for anyone who finds citrate forms too laxative, or who wants magnesium in the evening in a sleep context. A 200 g pack = approximately 50-65 doses at the standard level.
Excipients: none. No flavourings, colourings, fragrances or glazing agents.
What magnesium does
At a dose from approximately 1.5 g of powder a day (= 150 mg magnesium = 40% RI), the following EFSA-authorised health claims apply:
- Magnesium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal muscle function
- Magnesium contributes to normal psychological function
- Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
- Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth
- Magnesium contributes to normal protein synthesis and to electrolyte balance, and has a role in the process of cell division
Dosage
- Standard maintenance: 1-2 grams a day (= 100-200 mg magnesium)
- If the need is higher: up to 2.5 grams a day — above 250 mg of magnesium from supplements alone you are heading towards the EFSA UL; only under the supervision of an orthomolecular therapist or doctor
- Mix with water, or preferably in the evening in a calm drink (warm water, herbal tea)
- Build up gradually
Safety
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without consultation
- With chronic kidney complaints: consult your doctor first
- At higher doses stools may become looser — build up calmly
- Do not exceed the recommended dose
Suitable for
Vegetarians and vegans. Gluten-free, GMO-free, hypoallergenic. Free from sugar, yeast, lactose, animal ingredients and synthetic additives. Packaged without plastic.
Production
Composed by hand by orthomolecular therapist, biochemistry lecturer and laboratory specialist Michael R. Eekhof. Thanks to the manual process, no fillers or excipients are needed.

Vitarium therapeutic editorial
Magnesium bisglycinate in powder form gives the user dosing flexibility that capsule formulas do not offer — handy if you want to start at a low dose without supervision and build it up slowly, or if you have to stay at a specific dose during a protocol. The non-laxative property makes this form suitable for the evening; if your bowel movement is sluggish at the same time, citrate (with its mildly laxative side effect) may be a more logical choice — see our article on magnesium forms. At higher doses (above 2 g/day = 200 mg magnesium) supervision remains advisable, particularly if you also use other mineral supplements.
This product is a food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended dose. A varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important; a food supplement is not a substitute for these. Keep out of reach of young children. Consult an expert in case of pregnancy, lactation, medication use or illness.
