What it contains

Ingredient Per gram At a daily dose of 5-10 g
L-glutamine, 100% pure ~1 g 5-10 g

No fillers, flavourings, colourings or preservatives. A 200 g pack = approximately 20-40 doses, depending on the dose.

What L-glutamine is

L-glutamine is an amino acid — a building block of proteins. It is the most abundant free amino acid in muscle tissue and in the blood. The body can produce L-glutamine itself (mainly in skeletal muscle, the lungs, the brain and adipose tissue), which is why it is called non-essential. In the diet, L-glutamine is found in quark, eggs, soya, wheat, spinach, beans and tofu.

For L-glutamine there are currently no EFSA-authorised health claims for consumer supplements. The text on this product page is therefore strictly factual and biochemical.

Dosage

  • Standard: 5-10 grams a day, dissolved in water or a liquid of your choice
  • Preferably on an empty stomach — amino acids compete with each other for absorption; on an empty stomach L-glutamine is absorbed more efficiently. At least half an hour before, or two hours after, a meal
  • In a sports context: after training
  • Build up gradually to give the gut time to adapt
  • Or as advised by your health professional

Safety

  • Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • With chronic kidney or liver complaints: consult your doctor first (a higher amino acid load may be relevant)
  • When using anti-epileptic medication: consult your doctor if in doubt
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose without advice

Suitable for

Vegetarians and vegans. Free from gluten, soya, lactose and synthetic additives.

Storage

Store dry and at room temperature. Keep the packaging closed. Keep out of reach of children.

Vitarium therapeutic editorial

L-glutamine in powder form is practical for two groups that often use L-glutamine at higher doses: intensive athletes (after training, in a recovery context) and gut-oriented protocols (within a leaky gut and gut epithelium approach). At these dosage levels (5-10 g/day) powder is more cost-efficient than capsules. If you only want a light basic top-up without handling large portions: look at the [L-Glutamine 800mg capsules](/products/l-glutamine-capsules-800mg) or the multi-component formula [Leaky Gut Repair](/products/leakygut-repair-caps). In a sports context, L-glutamine is often stacked with creatine and protein powders within a single regimen.

This product is a food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended dose. A varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important; a food supplement is not a substitute for these. Keep out of reach of young children. Consult an expert in case of pregnancy, lactation, medication use or illness.
