Composition per capsule

Capsule shell: pullulan (cassava extract, vegan, kosher and halal). Stabiliser/bulking fibre: natural acacia fibre.

What is in it

Wild garlic, oregano, garlic and olive leaf are plant constituents with a long history of use in traditional European herbal medicine. Wild garlic (Allium ursinum) contains sulphur-containing compounds comparable to those in garlic; olive leaf contains oleuropein as its characteristic polyphenol; oregano contains carvacrol, among other things.

Berberine is an alkaloid from Berberis aristata and other barberry species, traditionally applied in Chinese herbal medicine. Berberine has well-known medicine interactions — see the safety section below.

Shilajit is a mineral-rich organic compound from the high mountain regions of the Himalayas, traditionally used within Ayurveda. It naturally contains fulvic acid.

Nigella sativa (black cumin) contains thymoquinone as its characteristic component, used within the Unani and Ayurvedic traditions.

Important safety information

Because of the berberine it contains, this formula may interact with medicines. Read the following carefully before use:

• Antidiabetic medicines (metformin, sulfonylurea derivatives, insulin): berberine may amplify the glucose-lowering effect — risk of hypoglycaemia. Do not combine without consulting your doctor
• Anticoagulants (warfarin, DOACs): berberine may affect how these medicines work via liver enzymes — the risk of bleeding may rise
• CYP3A4 substrates (including many statins, ciclosporin, some antidepressants and blood pressure lowering medicines): berberine inhibits CYP3A4 — medicine levels may rise
• Macrolide antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin): comparable interaction mechanism
• Do not use during pregnancy, when trying to conceive, or while breastfeeding
• Not suitable for children under 7 years of age, or for anyone who cannot swallow the capsule
• Do not take the contents out of the capsule
• In case of stomach or bowel complaints during use (nausea, diarrhoea, cramps): reduce the dose or stop
• Do not exceed the recommended dose

• Standard: 2 to 4 capsules a day, spread over the day, with a meal and water

APH is a more complex herbal formula in which several constituents have deliberately been brought together — an approach that is used in orthomolecular and herbal practice where a single herb cannot cover the full breadth. Because of the berberine component, however, this formula calls for medication screening as standard: if you use metformin, statins, anticoagulants or CYP3A4 medication, consulting a doctor or pharmacist is not a formality. In practice APH is sometimes combined with enzyme formulas such as DigeStim or with Peribo SIBO — that combination always belongs under guidance, not as a self-assembled stack.

This product is a food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended dose. A varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important; a food supplement is not a substitute for these. Keep out of reach of young children. Food supplements — herbal extracts in particular — may work out differently from person to person.
